Get blessed with wisdom through Saraswati puja


Basant Pachami is a very holy festival and of immense importance for both art lovers and academicians. On this auspicious day people begin house construction, inaugurate factories, perform Mundan and wedding ceremonies for their kids. According to Legends this is the day Lord Brahma created the Universe.


In India, the tradition of worshipping Gods and Goddess is in our culture. It is since ages. Worship and admiration of each and every Gods and Goddesses have their own significance. Some give wealth, some gives good health and happiness while others give high intellect. Education or intellect is one single most weapon as a result of which the individual can overcome almost any difficult situation with eminent ease. He can be victorious at every step of life and all this is possible through the Goddess Saraswati who has Veena in her hands. Worship her daily to get the desired results. Saraswati pujan is performed every year on Basant Panchami. The festival is also famous by the name of 'Basant Panchami'. Maa Saraswati is the Goddess of wisdom. We can't imagine our life without wisdom and voice. For this reason not only Gods but humans and demons also worship Goddess Saraswati with full faith and devotion. As a result of blessings of Goddess Saraswati poet Kalidas gained huge name and fame. Valmiki, Vashishtha, Vishwamitra, Shonak and Vyas like renowned sages got benefitted after seeking her blessings too. Goddess Saraswati is also popularly known by the names of 'Vidyavahini' and 'Hansvahini'. On the day of Saraswati Puja, people keep an idol of Goddess Saraswati at their homes. Commendable celebrations are arranged by various communities. In every school and college also, Saraswati Puja is organised with lots of pomp and show across the country.

How to revere the Goddess Saraswati

While doing Saraswati Puja, first of all the idol of Saraswati is kept in front. Thereby, do kalash sthapana and worship lord Ganesh. Revere Navgrah religiously. Thereafter do achman and offer her shower. Offer garland and embellish the Goddess with clothes and flowers. Offer vermillion and other beautification items to the Goddess. On the day of Basant Panchami, gulal is also offered at some places. Devi of wisdom wears white coloured clothes and hence she is always offered the same. She is also offered yellow coloured flowers and fruits. If the individual himself wears yellow coloured clothes and then offer her reverence, it is considered highly beneficial.

Perfect time for reverence

The day of Basant Panchami is considered auspicious for starting any new endeavour. One can worship the Goddess at any time of the day but morning is considered as the best. All the educational institutions perform the prayer and do the reverence early in the morning to take the blessings.

Puja Items

Most of the items used for worshipping the Goddess are usually white in colour. It includes curd, butter, laddoos of white sesame seeds, flowers, ripe jaggery, white sandalwood, white clothes, white jewelleries, sweets made up of milk, ginger, radish, sugar, ghee, coconut, coconut water, shrifal, and seasonal fruits are the items used at the time of reverence. One should also offer the wheat bali, yellow fruits, mango leaves, etc. After that the individual should ask for increase in wisdom, and softness in voice. In the birth horoscope, the 5th house is the naisargik bhav and is the house of education. Based on the positions of other planets in reference to this house decides the education of the person. If this house is malefic, then education stays incomplete of that individual. People adversely affected with this house should worship the Goddess Saraswati and ask for the desired blessings to get success. People with different zodiac signs should worship the Goddess with flowers of their own zodiac signs. Aries and Scorpios should worship the Goddess with red coloured flowers especially Hibiscus flower, red Kaner or red Marigold. Taurus and Scorpios should use white coloured flowers. Gemini and Virgo zodiac signs should use Lotus flower to worship. People with Cancer zodiac sign should either use white coloured flowers or white lotus. On the other hand, Leo should use Jawakusum or red Hibiscus flowers to worship. Sagittarians and Pisceans should offer yellow coloured flowers while Capricornians and Aquarians should offer blue coloured flowers. If you are going to temple, first of all chant the mantra of “Gam Ganpatyae Namah”. Thereafter chant the Saraswati mantra-“Om Aem Hreem Kleem Maha Saraswati Devyae Namah” and seek her blessings. By chanting this mantra, all the ill effects persisting in various houses- lagna (first house), fifth (education) and ninth (fortune) gets nullified. Mahakali , Saraswati and Maa Mahalakshmi rules all these three houses which forms a triangle.

Mantra to get consecrated by Maa Saraswati- If the individual chants this mantra on daily basis, he gets sanctified with enormous wisdom and intellect. Goddess Sarasawati is termed as 'Veenavadini' and 'Shubhravasana'. She has a pleasant beautiful smile on her face. She takes a seat on swan and eliminates ignorance from life. She bestows the individual with enlightenment too.
